Poor Windows 1.0. Far outclassed by other GUIs of the time (GEM and VisiOn come to mind), it's a small miracle anyone cared enough to preserve it. Still, can't fault for being Microsoft's first real foray into the magical world of GUIs!

I apologize for the lack of detail in places. There didn't seem to be any color option either. This was made in 1.01.

Despite not having many great games to its name, I enjoyed the few I could find. WineMine (MineSweeper), Taipei (Mahjong Solitaire), Reversi... shame Spider Solitaire wasn't a thing yet. GEM and VisiOn both had more to do... well, maybe not VisiOn. With Windows 1.01 out of the way, I started checking out some other GUIs for MS-DOS and found - among many others - GEM. Even after the Apple lawsuit, it's a great shell. Others worth mentioning include DESQView, Sidekick, Spec10's Disktop (can't seem to find it on Google; may have to post a screenshot) and Access. Out of these, I think Access is the most fun just because of its colorful icons and 'clever' screensaver quotes.
